SUMMARY:2019 Pack-A-Pilot for BCH NICU
DESCRIPTION:From 7AM Saturday December 7 through 7PM Sunday December 8\, #TeamOllie will be "camping out" at the Cape Cod Mall\, packing a 2018 Honda Pilot\, courtesy of Hyannis Honda\, with toys for the Boston Children's Hospital NICU! In addition to new\, unwrapped toys\, we will also be accepting clothing for new parents who find themselves unexpectedly at BCH with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Last year this was such a success that we just may need TWO Pilots! Let's make it happen for the second year in a row ?? As a family who has been through this\, we understand the struggles of new parents facing all that a critically ill newborn comes with. We are camping out for 36 hours\, an hour for each day we were in the NICU. Our son Ollie was diagnosed with Ornithine Transcarbamylase Deficiency at 5 days old\, when we nearly lost him. OTC is a rare metabolic disorder in which the body cannot process ammonia\, which is life threatening and often misdiagnosed and fatal. You can find more info on Urea Cycle Disorders\, including OTC\, here: http://nucdf.org and if you cannot make it and would like to donate to the NICU Child Life Program to support this effort\, you can do so here: http://fundraise.childrenshospital.org/goto/packapilot
