SUMMARY:Humans and the Global Ocean
DESCRIPTION:Learn about humans and the ocean with Ryan O'Connor\, a PhD candidate at Stanford University in California! This in-person lecture will encourage people to see the ocean in a whole new light. Ryan's research explores the many ways that human societies participate in marine science and how we can form partnerships to conserve resources for future generations. The connections between humans and the global ocean are endlessly complex\, and they are rapidly changing. As these changes evolve\, the need to learn about and manage our ocean resources and biodiversity creatively is becoming increasingly important. Incorporating a variety of social science\, ecological\, and biological research methods\, Ryan seeks to elevate the voices of local communities in the conservation science discourse\, integrating a variety of knowledge sources to learn more about life below the waves.
