She went on to become the first female municipal shellfish biologist in Massachusetts\, and later\, Orleans' first Conservation Administrator. She is the author of several books\, and the head of Coastal Resource Specialists\, a consulting company devoted to shellfish\, coastal\, and watershed issues.
