Scam Prevention with Detective Christopher Botsford of the Barnstable Police Department Scammers are always looking for new ways to trick people, and unfortunately, seniors are often the targets. Fake emails and phone calls pretending to be from banks or government agencies are just a few ways you can be victimized by online fraud, and it can cost people thousands of dollars. Seniors are oftentimes too embarrassed to share with their family that they have fallen victim to these tactics, when in reality, this can happen to anyone. The Osterville Village Library will be hosting a free event featuring Detective Christopher Botsford from the Barnstable Police Department. This event will be about protecting yourself from online fraud on February 13th at 10:30am in the Main Meeting Room. All are welcome to attend. Get insights into how scammers operate, what warning signs to look out for, and steps you can take to protect your personal information. For more information or to register for this event, please contact Amy Wolfe at awolfe@clamsnet.org or by calling the OVL directly at (508)428-5757
