Greg Ketchen, President of the Coast Guard Heritage Museum and a retired Coast Guard Captain. He will speak about the U.S. Life Saving Service (the precursor to the Coast Guard), and its role in life-saving innovations in rescue equipment and operations. In particular, Ketchen will address the use of surfboats in rescuing sailors from shipwrecks along Cape Cod’s treacherous outer coast. His talk will coincide the museum’s on-going restoration of a Race-Point style surfboat.
