Join New Bedford Whaling Museum docents Capt. Michael Taylor and Nancy Gentile for a discussion of “A Day in the Life of the Lagoda: a whaling voyage. This illustrated program explores 19th-century whaling through detailed descriptions of the crew, the whale hunt, blubber processing, products, ship design, and the evolution of the industry – from New Bedford and Nantucket to the Arctic and beyond. The lecture also features Sister Sailors: whaling wives, spotlighting the women who sailed alongside their husbands. With live demonstrations of baleen and harpoons. This program will take place on Saturday May 23rd at 1pm in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library.
