Heaslip Wheel Lab: Pushing the Limit

Tue, Jun 3, 530-8pm. Heaslip Wheel Labs are monthly advanced technique workshops for students who have already mastered the basics of throwing clay on the wheel. No ware will be fired -- the Lab is to hone skills through repetition. Students will practice forms over and over again under artist Holly Heaslip's expert guidance and receive constructive critique. Students may arrive at 5pm to warm up. Each Lab includes 2.5 hours of class time with Holly and 2 hours of Open Studio time to continue practicing. This month's lab will explore how far you can go when pursuing certain forms before the piece collapses! This is a great way to push yourself and learn about the material we call "clay." We will practice cylinders, bowls, bellying, and collaring. Pushing the clay up, out, and in as far as it will go before it’s so stressed it gives in. Homework will be to practice, practice, practice! Be present and learn from your mistakes! We will share our discoveries in the next Lab. $50 Members, $56 Not-Yet-Members.
