Heaslip Wheel Lab: Get a Handle On It

Tue, Aug 26, 530-8pm. Heaslip Wheel Labs are monthly advanced technique workshops for students who have already mastered the basics of throwing clay on the wheel. No ware will be fired -- the Lab is to hone skills through repetition. Students will practice forms over and over again under artist Holly Heaslip's expert guidance and receive constructive critique. Each Lab includes 2.5 hours of class time with Holly and 2 hours of Open Studio time to continue practicing. "Get a Handle On It" will help you master the handle: how to pull elegant and consistent handles, how to securely attach handles to your pots, and ways to ensure a smooth and elegant transition from handle to pot. Bring some pots you've made that need handles if you have them. And bring finished work with handles you've already made for critique. Holly will explore common handle mistakes and how to avoid them as well as what makes a good handle, functionally and aesthetically. Member $50, Not-Yet-Member $56.
