Price $750 Immerse yourself in an inspiring group experience designed to ignite your creativity and imagination as we explore the theme of Home through readings, discussions, generative writing prompts, and workshopping in this cozy retreat in the heart of downtown Hyannis on Cape Cod with award-winning author Hester Kaplan. This unique only-for-women retreat is designed to engage writers at all levels of experience. The small group format in a beautiful setting fosters connection with other writers and deepens a connection with your own work and creative spirit. The atmosphere is warm and supportive, delighting in the discovery of your own and other women’s voices, experiences, and approaches. Writers will gather at a historic, gracious space on Pearl Street in Hyannis on the Center's HyArts campus, just a short walk to the scenic harbor and to the vibrant bustling shops and restaurants of Main Street. A chef-prepared dinner on Friday night, as well as breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, are included (vegan/vegetarian options are provided). Space is limited to just 12 participants. There are two fully-funded seats included in this workshop for writers who may face financial challenges. Please contact Christine Ernst at ChristineE@Cultural-Center.org for more information. Schedule: Friday, 4-8pm: Writers will gather to meet Hester, followed by a welcome dinner prepared by the Center's Chef Nicholas Caplice on Friday evening. After the meal, a reading and Q & A with a guest reader, the memoir writer and essayist Alizah Holstein, will kick off the retreat. Saturday, 8:30am-5pm: For Saturday’s workshop, writers will reconvene for a working breakfast. After a lunch prepared by Chef Nicholas, participants will have time to work on a generative prompt until meeting again mid-afternoon. Writers will have the opportunity for a brief one-on-one meeting with Hester. Saturday, 6:30-8pm: On Saturday night, writers are on their own for dinner, and we’ll host an open reading afterward for participants. Sunday, 8:30am-4pm: We'll continue writing and workshopping through Sunday afternoon with a short break for a brown-bag lunch by Chef Nicholas. After lunch, writers will have the opportunity for a brief one-on-one meeting with Hester. The workshop does not include accommodations, though there are many fine hotels within walking distance from the retreat at 50 Pearl St, Hyannis, MA. Convenient parking located in the adjacent lot at 250 South St.
