Local Historian Paul Chesbro presents 'Old Osterville'
Local historian and author Paul Chesbro will lead an engaging history presentation focused on the village of Osterville, Massachusetts, exploring its rich heritage and evolution over time. Paul will guide the audience through key chapters in Osterville’s development, including the rise of its maritime legacy —highlighting the world- renowned Crosby Yacht Yard, known for building traditional catboats and Wianno class sailboats that have become synonymous with the area’s nautical identity. Along with vivid descriptions of 19th- and early 20th-century community life and industry, Chesbro illustrates how Osterville evolved from an oyster- harvesting settlement into a cherished coastal village with deep local traditions and historical landmarks. Period photographs and anecdotes will enrich the talk, helping attendees connect personally with the stories of the people and places that shaped the village. The event offers both long- time residents and visitors a deeper appreciation for Osterville’s heritage and underscores the importance of preserving its unique historical narrative.
