Master Gardeners of Cape Cod 'Lilacs: A Purple Haze & Fundamentals of Plant Propagation'

The Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod in partnership with the Osterville Village Library proudly present the Community Propagation Workshop Series. Lilacs: A Purple Haze & Fundamentals of Plant Propagation Thursday, April 24th, 2025; 6:00 to 8:00pm Osterville Village Library 43 Wianno Avenue Osterville, MA 02655 It’s spring! Lilac fragrance and flowers are just weeks away. Learn how to choose the best lilacs for your garden and how to care for them including pruning, propagating and hybridizing. We’ll also look at insect and disease challenges and a bit of history. The program will be presented by Jack Alexander from Heritage Museums and Gardens. He recently retired from his position as the Plant Propagator and “Lilac Guy” of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, a position he held for 40 years. Jack has introduced lilac cultivars, ‘Lilac Sunday’, ‘Purple Haze’ and ‘Foxey Lady’.
