Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod at our Hyarts Programming Annex Monday through Friday, July 15-19, 12-5pm. This camp will focus on the mythical mermaids, sea creatures, and buried treasures off the coast of Cape Cod. Using materials from a buried treasure chest found with a mysterious map, campers will create their own art! All things bright and shiny, as well as found objects from the beach, will be used to create art that sparkles in the summer sun. We will start by naming the Mermaid that resides in the Guyer Barn and each camper will create a story about mermaids or sea creatures that will be the week’s individual projects. The story will evolve with the creation of an illustrated storyboard, creating characters, plot, and sequence of events. The group project will incorporate individual characters created by campers into a large mural. Campers bring their own bag lunch, water and snacks. The last day of each week, caregivers picking up campers will be invited to a Pizza Party at 5pm where campers will present their projects. The Summer Camps at the Guyer Barn are led by Susan Overstreet, resident arts educator. $325/$300 members. Register at www.cultural-center.org or call 508-394-7100 The Guyer Barn is located at 250 South Street, Hyannis.
