Highly skilled technical and administrative work in conducting planning, and economic and community development activities for the town; all other work as required. Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, or related field; and more than (5) five years of progressively responsible experience in at least one of the following areas: physical planning, comprehensive planning, environmental planning, or community and economic development. A Masters degree in one of the above planning fields may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. Any combination of training and experience that clearly provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills. Experienced, working knowledge of planning principles, practices, and techniques; community and economic development strategies, programs, issues and resources; theory, principles and practices of urban planning. Knowledge of local zoning ordinances, subdivision rules and regulations, and applicable state statutes, rules and regulations. Ability to perform detailed analysis of planning related issues including demographic analysis, design reviews, and cost benefit analysis. Ability to work as part of a team within department and with other town departments. Ability to develop effective working relationships with diverse local, regional officials, elected officials, and organizations, developers, attorneys, colleagues, and the general public. Ability to conduct independent research and to analyze and interpret results. Ability to supervise subordinates effectively. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Skilled in planning, designing, research and analysis, and computer use for word processing, spread sheets, data base, and graphic applications. $3,378.32 biweekly + benefits.
